CSIR-NET is a national level test, which conducts twice in a year in the month of June and December. The candidates having a good rank in NET are considered JRF qualified and eligible for the scholarship for Ph.D. tenure. The age limit for JRF (Junior research fellowship) is 28 years, while there is no age limit for NET.
In the present time, Ph.D. is mandatory for recruitment as an assistant professor in universities as mentioned by the University Grant Commission (UGC), although, the debate is going on this matter.
